day79 Posted August 12, 2020 Report post Posted August 12, 2020 We have a ton of ConfigMgr clients that are showing they are on, but "inactive". Clients haven't sent their heard beat or inventory in several days...see attached pic. These machines have been powered on all week. They aren't able to install software from Software Center or take deployments. We recently upgraded to 5.00.8968.1000 and installed a hotfix. Any suggestions on what to check? Management Points all look good. Reinstalling the client appears to work but there are tons. We do use Sophos AV and recently tried Endpoint out before deciding to stay with Sophos. Sophos rolled out a new version and we added the following exceptions: C:\Windows\CCM C:\Windows\CCM\*.sdf C:\Windows\CCM\ServiceData C:\Windows\CCMCache C:\Windows\CCMSetup C:\Windows\CCM\Logs Any help would be appreciated! James P Posted August 13, 2020 Report post Posted August 13, 2020 We were having the exact same thing. At some point devices stopped checking in for no reason. We ended up reinstalling the management point role and devices started to check in correctly.
Pehan Posted September 2, 2020 Report post Posted September 2, 2020 Hi! In my environment (5000 clients) we had the same problem. Turned out it's how SCCM checks the clients' 'life indicators' that was the source of the problem. We use XDR antivirus, and have endpoint protection turned off. Endpoint protection being installed and switched on is one of the life indicators SCCM rely on to tell if a client is active/inactive. When I turned off Endpoint Protection in the client policy, the clients started to behave normally again. Took some time, a few months, but now everything is back to normal.
