Deploy Windows 7 and Antivirus Software

Question

First, Hello Everyone.

I have used all the helpful info i have found here on Windows-noob.com to get my mind wrapped around deploying windows.

I am having a couple problems with the installation of Symantec Endpoint Protection during my deployment. I have trying deploying it in two different ways:

1. By creating a software package

2. scripting it into the runonce key so that it runs after windows reboots.

The first fails because after SEP installs it starts to run live update and forces my Task sequence to time out.

The second doesn't work because when the script tries to write to the runonce key I get an access denied error.

Also after my OS Task Sequence has run and i log into the desktop for the first time is it normal to alreay have 3 - 4 updates already there installing and asking me to reboot?

I am still pretty new to this and appreciate any help or point in the right direction any of you could provide.

thanks.

Yes it helps. Thank you very much.

no problems, we also have a killscript that operates during OSD (we have a reboot after SAV and about 4 other apps install) and the Liveupdate service kicks off, our kill script stops the process and pauses the LUI service. thats another way it can be handled.

Would you mind sharing that kill script?
