PXE Boot Problems

I have been building machines using PXE boot and OSD then today it seems to have stopped working.

 

When I boot a machine, it PXE boots, assigns an IP address...

 

Then there is a message ... Details below show information relating to PXE boot requests. Please provide details to your WDS Administrator so that the request can be approved.

Contacting Server x.x.x.x .................................................

 

... and the dots just carry on.

 

Any ideas what may have gone wrong here as it was working fine. I have tried 2 machines with the same result.

 

Also, are there any considerations when building an AMD machine over an Intel machine?

Tried the above and removed the duplicate.

Is the computer is unknknown computer ? if so ,can you check if unknown computer collection has aatleast one Task sequences on it or not ?

 

Here are the some basic things to look into for PXE boot:

 

1.Unknown support should be enabled in SCCM PXe point Role

2.Unknown computer support in WDS server should be checked and check the DHCP authrisation in Advanced tab.

3.If WDS and DHCP server are not in same server then port 60,67 should be configured in DHCP

4.Boot images(X86 and X64) should be distributed to Standard DP and PXE DP

5.Atleast one Task Sequence should be advertised to All Unknown computers.

This is a known computer as I have imported it using the mac address.

Did you check the storage space also verify that,the MAC you have imported is correct or not and TS is advertised to the collection in which the new computer (MAC ID) added?

BTW ,if you have R2 Installed,Are you not using the built in method to deploy OS to unknown computers ?

 

Are you using Vmware or Physical ? if VMware,Try to remove the netcard from your vmware machine and then add it again[

Physical hardware.

 

Storage space is fine, MAC is fine and task sequence is advertised to collection OK. This has all previously been tested so not sure why this hiccup at the moment.

 

The storage is using ISCSI on a NetApp though.

 

Was not aware of R2 feature for unknown computers. Not sure we want to enable this as it could cause us problems if workstations were built accidentally.

Any ideas? Can I delete the Distribution Point and readd? Is there a preferred way to do this?

OK. Have removed from Distribution Point and readded it but with no resolution.

 

Any further ideas?

 

 

The Issue is not with Distribution Point. There should be something behind the WDS and PXE service point Role.You can remove PXE role and re add it again and see if that works.
