Is there a way to change the locale on computers that I am deploying on MDT? I am setting up MDT in Australia using an image that currently has US set for it's local.

You can Try this https://blogs.technet.com/b/deploymentguys/archive/2010/01/20/configuring-regional-and-language-settings-online-in-an-mdt-task-sequence.aspx ?

also if you want to change locale in WIM,still you can do that using DISM like after Mounting DISM /Image:c:\Mount /Set-SKUIntlDefaults:fr-FR

The WIM is of Windows XP and DISM doesn't support XP, correct? Is there a way to do it with ImageX?

DISM do support mount the XP WIM . Have you tried mouting it ? like DISM /Mount-wim /wimfile:C:\xp_32Bit.wim /index:1 /Mountdir:c:\mount

More info on DISM http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744382(WS.10).aspx

I thought that DISM supports everything from Vista SP1 and newer, so no XP...

For ImageX, take a look here: http://technet.micro...377(WS.10).aspx

Hmm.....I just did a quick test on mouting the XP wim and it does it (DISM /Mount-wim /wimfile:C:\xp_32Bit.wim /index:1 /Mountdir:c:\mount).

But can you do something with it? Like adding a package or something?

Nope,It doesnt agree to service any modifications ;). DISM does not support servicing a Windows Vista RTM or earlier operating system and to support,it look for SSShim.DLL present or not to process any servicing operations. To change the Locale, you can use imagex tool.

If you are able to mount the image with DISM then you should be able to make changes directly to the registry hives.

Registry hives are found here: <%mountpath%>\Windows\System32\config\*.*

Just open regedit - create a new key and from the file meny you can "load Hive"
