IanDD Posted March 9, 2011 Report post Posted March 9, 2011 Hi Folks, I am proper n00b here so please be gentle I am currently having problems pushing clients out in a VM test lab, I have detailed below the config: Domain Controller (DC1) - Server 2008 R2 - DHCP/DNS - Schema Extended SCCM Server (SCCMSVR) - Server 2008 R2 - SQL2008R2 - IIS/WSUS/File Services Client - (client) - Win7 32bit These were all created off of master vm images that had been sysprep'd before cloning. I have followed the guide on this forum and everything seemed to be going brilliantly. SCCM discovered all my machines in AD and then I configured the clients and the client push propertys as per the guide and then proceeded to push out the client. My problem is for some reason is that my SCCM server and my client win7 machine receive the client but my domain controller does not. I have specified for the client to be allowed on domain controllers and double checked all the settings but I can not get the client pushed out to this one machine. After reading numerous very helpfull posts here I tried the following. I checked the ccm.log and found the below: ---> Unable to connect to WMI ® on remote machine "DC1", error = 0x8004100e. SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 09/03/2011 19:45:30 3428 (0x0D64) After reading post after post over the last couple of days I then tried the following. I ran wbemtest.exe on my SCCM server and set the Namespace = \\dc1\root\wmi, I then ran Enum Classes with the superclass = Eventtrace, this completed with no errors. I have also turned off windows firewalls on all machines and checked that I could connect to the admin$ share on each machine. DNS is all present and correct as i can ping via ip or name from all machines. I dont think this is an account issue as the client installs fine on the other 2 machines but just not the domain controller. I have since spent an evening rebuilding the domain controller but I am still getting exactly the same problem. I really dont like posting problems unless I have really hit a brick wall and I have read until my eyes bleed trying to find a solution. I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone on this forum as the posts here have really helped a lot Edit** Just checked the ccmsetup.log on the domain controller and have the following errors: Failed to successfully complete HTTP request Request failed: 404 Not Found Any help is appreciated

Many thanks You dont have to install IIS on domain controller until you install any of the site system roles(few roles requires IIS to be installed on). look at this technet article for site system roles and its requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680717.aspx
IanDD Posted March 11, 2011 Report post Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Guys, Still stuck on the below 2 error messages: Failed to successfully complete HTTP request Request failed: 404 Not Found I have had a search around and it seems to be an IIS issue but can not understand it as the management point seems to be working fine, so I think webdav is setup as it should. I have followed all advice on installing and configuring webdav for server 2008 r2, and even checked the webdav_schema.xml which seems correct. I really do not wont to move on in my training until i have the client pushed out to all machines but it does not matter what I do I can not seem to get the client on the domain controller. I tried uninstalling the reporting and managemnt point roles, uninstalling IIS, and then reinstalling, the logs seem to indicate everything is back up and running but I still get the above error message on the client. Any help or pointers on what to look at next would be greatly appreciated

Peter van der Woude Posted March 11, 2011 Report post Posted March 11, 2011 Not being able to push to Domain Controllers is almost always a rights issue. The Push account is probably not a Local Admin on the Domain Controller
IanDD Posted March 12, 2011 Report post Posted March 12, 2011 Many thanks for your help Guys, looks like it was an IIS issue as I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS, reconfigured webdav and pushed the client out. Not sure exactly what the problem was but the 3rd reinstall seemed to do the trick, I am not sure if it just me but IIS on server 2008 r2 seems very flaky at best. I am only working in an virtual environment designed just for my training purposes but if IIS is that flaky in a enterprise environment then its not good news. Id like to say a big thanks to everyone on this forum for there posts and guides as they have been a great help in troubleshooting the problems I have had and I have learnt a huge amount of knowledge from them Hopefully as I learn I will be able to help and contribute as well
