Expanding Windows files takes 2 hours

Hi,

 

I am having a massive problem with deploying an image over MDT. The custom image is 3GB and the copying windows files finishes 100 percent in about 5 seconds, then it takes about 2 hours to expand the windows files. Looking on the WDS server network utilization, its at about .5 percent of a 1GB network connection on the server end and the client end. this happens on all clients and also takes just as long to capture an image. I can copy a file from my machine to the server and it runs at waht you would expect for a 1GB connection. the setup is as follows.

 

VMWARE ESXI 4 environment with 28GB RAM (4GB allocated to WDS server)

Server 2008 R2

MDT 2010 update 1

WDS role installed

 

Any help would be appreciated.

On the ESX host try changing the NIC setting to auto-negotiate. According to this thread it fixed the problem for someone else:
