XistEnCe Posted June 14, 2011 Report post Posted June 14, 2011 Hi there! I've been upgrading our Exchange 2003 environment to 2010 (as you probably can see from earlier threads on here..). We've run in to a problem with the use of calendars and free/busy sync. When you're trying to invite people to attend to a calendar event, and you check the "planner". Their bar is just grayed out and you can't see when people are free/busy. I cheked the Event Viewer on the exchange 2010 server, and I can see loads of entries for: Couldn't find an Exchange 2010 or later public folder server with a replica for the free/busy folder: EX:/O=COMPANY/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP. Does this have anything to do with the problems? How would one go about fixing this? Can I make a new free/busy folder on the 2010? We do not want to use public-folders anymore, so it would be great to just get rid of it now so we don't have to replicate. Thank you for any replies on this topic! 0 Andersson Posted June 14, 2011 Report post Posted June 14, 2011 Hi! Do you have a working Autodiscover and EWS? Have you replicated the public folders from 2003 to 2010? including the system folders What names have you included into the certificate? A great troubleshooter is to turn on verbose logging in Outlook and try to do F/B lookups and then check the logs Maybe you can post them in the thread here? It should be called something with F/B.. You will not need the public folders if you are using Outlook 2007 or newer You can use web publishing of the OAB instead of PF if you have Outlook 2007 or newer

Didn't see your reply untill now for some reason.. Anyhow here's the reply: 1. Autodiscover and EWS are working brilliant. Edit:(Atleast for OWA-access and administrative tasks). 2. No, none of the folders are replicated - still wondering how to do this in the best possible way. Hints / tips are welcome! 3. I've included 3 names in the SAN-cert: mail.company.com, servername.company.local, autodiscover.company.local 4. We run on Outlook 2007, with some still on 2003 (on an upgrade roll here, so all 2007 pretty soon). I did enable some logging, and end up with some files ending with *-fb.log Here's the output: 2011/06/20 10:59:56.265: Getting ASURL 2011/06/20 10:59:56.278: URL returned from cached autodiscover: https://server.company.local/ews/exchange.asmx 2011/06/20 10:59:56.278: Request to URL: https://server.company.local/ews/exchange.asmx 2011/06/20 10:59:56.278: Request action: http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/messages/GetUserAvailability 2011/06/20 10:59:56.278: Request XML: <?xml version="1.0"?> <q:Envelope xmlns:q="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><q:Header><wsa:MessageID xmlns:wsa="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/">urn:uuid:D437C30D-ABFC-44C4-B0B7-D0DBA24A262C</wsa:MessageID></q:Header><q:Body xmlns:wsa="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing/"><ex12m:GetUserAvailabilityRequest xmlns:ex12m="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/messages" xmlns:ex12t="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/services/2006/types"><ex12t:TimeZone><ex12t:Bias>-60</ex12t:Bias><ex12t:StandardTime><ex12t:Bias>0</ex12t:Bias><ex12t:Time>03:00:00</ex12t:Time><ex12t:DayOrder>5</ex12t:DayOrder><ex12t:Month>10</ex12t:Month><ex12t:DayOfWeek>Sunday</ex12t:DayOfWeek></ex12t:StandardTime><ex12t:DaylightTime><ex12t:Bias>-60</ex12t:Bias><ex12t:Time>02:00:00</ex12t:Time><ex12t:DayOrder>5</ex12t:DayOrder><ex12t:Month>3</ex12t:Month><ex12t:DayOfWeek>Sunday</ex12t:DayOfWeek></ex12t:DaylightTime></ex12t:TimeZone><ex12m:MailboxDataArray><ex12t:MailboxData><ex12t:Email><ex12t:Address>Bjorn.Hongseth@broadnet.no</ex12t:Address><ex12t:RoutingType>SMTP</ex12t:RoutingType></ex12t:Email><ex12t:AttendeeType>Required</ex12t:AttendeeType></ex12t:MailboxData></ex12m:MailboxDataArray><ex12t:FreeBusyViewOptions><ex12t:TimeWindow><ex12t:StartTime>2011-06-10T22:00:00</ex12t:StartTime><ex12t:EndTime>2011-07-10T22:00:00</ex12t:EndTime></ex12t:TimeWindow><ex12t:MergedFreeBusyIntervalInMinutes>30</ex12t:MergedFreeBusyIntervalInMinutes><ex12t:RequestedView>Detailed</ex12t:RequestedView></ex12t:FreeBusyViewOptions></ex12m:GetUserAvailabilityRequest></q:Body></q:Envelope> 2011/06/20 10:59:56.278: Sending request 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: Request sent 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: Response error code: 80072F0C 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: HTTP status code: 0 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: ------------------------------- 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: There is an error in request/response. 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: XML response: 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: ------------------------------- 2011/06/20 10:59:58.600: Getting ASURL 2011/06/20 10:59:58.695: Failed to get ASURL. 0 XistEnCe Posted June 22, 2011 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 I did some work trying to get the schedule+free busy folders from 2003 to 2010 yesterday. For some reason I couldn't open the Public folder management tool on 2010 from the administrator account without deleting it's mailbox (which was listed as legacy box but didn't exist on the 2003 server). I also logged on the 2003 server and added the 2010 public folders database as a replica for these folders. In my 2010 public folder management console view, I can now see the hierarchy of the folders listed under "system public folders". If I double click the "SCHEDULE+FREE BUSY" folder, I get a message that it's "Not avalible on this server." From what I can tell, this could also give me the caldendar / free-busy problems we've been experiencing?
0 XistEnCe Posted June 22, 2011 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 It also seems like the Out of Office part is non-functional from Outlook connected via LAN after I did the above. Still seems to work from OWA.
0 XistEnCe Posted June 22, 2011 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 What's also funny, is that in OWA - I can see who's free / busy, but not create appointments. I get the "You don't have permission~" message.
0 Andersson Posted June 22, 2011 Report post Posted June 22, 2011 Hi Open EMS and jump to path drive:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts and run the script AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1. This will add replica of public folders on Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2010. This is the simplest way to add replica of all PFs to Exchange 2010 PF database. C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts>.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder "\" -ServerToAdd "exchange2010" Once the replica is added the next step is to move the replica from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. To do this, jump to scripts directory and run following command. C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Scripts>.\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server "Exchange2003" -NewServer "Exchange2010" The error 8004010F is really a generic error message, but if I were you I would start with replicating the public folders including system folders. If you haven't replicated the information and have moved the user mailboxes from 2003 to 2010 they won't be able to use F/B since Outlook 2003 uses Public folder to check F/B What result do you get when you run: Get-Clientaccessserver | fl *uri* Make sure that the name is resolvable to the server and that the name is included into the certificate For me this looks like a public folder replication issue and a EWS issue, since EWS and Autodiscover needs to work if the OoO feature should work. Ok, so I've run the .\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder "\" -ServerToAdd "exchange2010" part, and I can see from the "Get-PublicFolderStatistics" that there's something going on. Still it looks like all content is on the 2003 server? When can I be 100% sure it's safe to run the: .\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server "Exchange2003" -NewServer "Exchange2010" with out loosing any data? And yes, that would be the explanation why people can't use F/B at the moment. When running Get-ClientAccessServer | fl *uri* it reports: AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri : https://2010server.company.local/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml If I try to access that URL I get prompted for credentials. After entering administrative ones I get XML printed like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> -<Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006"> -<Response> -<Error Id="922611751" Time="08:59:45.8896372"> <ErrorCode>600</ErrorCode> <Message>Invalid Request</Message> <DebugData/> </Error> </Response> </Autodiscover> The servername is in the SAN-Certificate we use. 0 Andersson Posted June 26, 2011 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 How large are your public folder databases on the 2003 side? If you have waited some days it would be replicated and you can try to move the contents from 2003 to 2010 CHeck the instances in System Manager for the public folder instances to be moved And don't forget to move the public folder hierarchy to the new ADministrative group If the servername is included in the SAN certificate the URL is fine

I've waited 3-4 days now, so it should be replicated - but I still can't see any content in the 2010 public folder management console tool. Is that a bad thing? If I run the "GewtPublicFolderStatistics" command, with the -Server flag specified to be the 2010 server, I can see that it contains the hierarchy and some of the elements contain data. This is kind of wierd, since I can't see it anywhere! How does one move the hierarchy in the best possible way?
0 Andersson Posted June 28, 2011 Report post Posted June 28, 2011 Check for the edb and stm file and add the size of them, then you will have the total size of the pf database If you use the EMC and go to Tools and Public Folder, connect to the 2010 server, can you see any folders there.. both normal public folders and the system folders? Here's a great reference to replicate the folders http://exchangeserverpro.com/migrate-public-folders-from-exchange-2003-to-exchange-server-2010 And here's how to move the hierarchy http://exchangeserverpro.com/moving-the-public-folder-hierarchy-during-an-exchange-2007-migration
Hi there!
I cheked the Event Viewer on the exchange 2010 server, and I can see loads of entries for:
Does this have anything to do with the problems?
How would one go about fixing this?
Can I make a new free/busy folder on the 2010?
We do not want to use public-folders anymore, so it would be great to just get rid of it now so we don't have to replicate.
Thank you for any replies on this topic!
