vNext/SCCM under Native Mode

Recommended Posts

There is no real Native Mode anymore.. Now there is the choice between HTTP or HTTPS communication. It's even possible to configure it per role. The needed certificates certificates haven't changed (much) since ConfigMgr 2007. So you should be fine with the old documentation.

Take a look here for somebody who already did it: http://www.jamesbannanit.com/2011/04/certificate-requirements-for-sccm-2012/

There is also now a technet library article for SCCM 2012 and certificate requirements.

I actually followed this over the weekend and can vouch for it being spot on the money. There is actually no difference between the certificates for SCCM 2007 and 2012. The document signing certificate is now no longer required.

One additional certificate that is not in 2007 but is in 2012 is that for the Enrollment Certificate for Mobile Devices. I deployed this fine and well, but alas having a Windows 7 phone where cab files are not supported by the OS, meant that I was not able to install the SCCM client. Check it out if you are unsure of what I mean. I'm sure by the time RTM rolls around that there will be an alternative way to install the SCCM client.

Cheers,

adrian
