feffrey Posted August 26, 2011 Report post Posted August 26, 2011 I am trying to setup sccm 2012 in a test environment without extending the schema. I would love to extend it but due to policy restrictions above me, that won't be happening. I have sccm installed, however when I manually deploy the client, it can never connect to the site. (can't push the client due to more policy restrictions) I have wins running on the server as well, and it is configured for sccm with the site point . I also have sccm set to not publish to AD. It is able to discover with AD, and find all the devices, however the client will not find the server. Are there any extra configurations that needs to be done on the server or the client to get it to work without extending the schema? Also I did not create the AD container for sccm as it will not be publishing to AD. You do not need to configure AD (other than giving sccm a network admin account) if you are not extending the schema, or publish to AD, correct? Peter van der Woude Posted August 26, 2011 Report post Posted August 26, 2011 That's correct, but you do need a Server Locator Point then (just like with SCCM 2007).
feffrey Posted August 29, 2011 Report post Posted August 29, 2011 I have the SLP installed on the server, however the clients can not find the site automatically, or if I manually give them the site in control panel. Is there a way to configure the SLP or re-install it? I tried removing the role, however I could not select which role to remove. Peter van der Woude Posted August 29, 2011 Report post Posted August 29, 2011 If you don't have the AD extended the clients won't find the site automatically... you will need to specify the SLP during the installation of the client. feffrey Posted August 30, 2011 Report post Posted August 30, 2011 Tried doing that and it did not work either. I was able to get it to work by installing it the client, then running a script later on to add it to the correct site code. Now the clients are showing up just fine. Thanks for the help. Trevor Sullivan Posted August 30, 2011 Report post Posted August 30, 2011 You actually don't even need a Network Access Account configured, unless you are doing OSD, or unless you have workgroup clients. Domain systems will use their AD computer accounts to retrieve content from distribution points. Hope this helps.
