A couple of SCCM newbie questions

Question

We are currently in early stages of deploying SCCM at my work and have some questions related to OSD and task sequences.

1. Right now during testing we are using boot media to start the OSD process and one of the first steps that the TS does is downloads the boot image and reboots into it. Is this a normal process when using boot media? I'm just curious because it seems kind of redundant. I've checked my task sequence and disabled the step that is called Restart in Windows PE but it still happens.

2. This might be a really dumb question, but is modifying the task sequence in the Config Mgr console going to affect any computers currently running a task sequence? I'd hate to mess up a TS in progress while I am modifying settings.

Thanks in advance for any information, I searched around for a while but I was unable to come up with anything conclusive.

1. Is the boot media generated from the exact same boot image listed in the Properties for the OS task sequence?

2. It depends on what you modify. I would suggest looking at the advertisement log for the TS before hitting the Apply/OK button because in some cases, yeah, it'll ruin the OS deployment and it has to be kicked off again for that machine.
