SCCM 2007 client push failing

Question

Hi, I have set up SCCM 2007 SP2 on a single windows 2008 R2 box in a test lab with separate DC. The discovery process has correctly identified all the clients within AD BUT I notice that client install is failing. When I check the logs (on say an XP client - SP2) the overwhelming error is as shown below, whereas from a Win7 Pro client, the error seems to be to do "A Fallback Status Point has not been specified" - see attachment

Extract from Client (ccmsetup.log) file on XP sp2 client

The language specific BITS version wasn't found (Failed to download 'WindowsXP-KB923845-x86-ENU.exe' from 'http://SCCM_Server/CCM_Client/i386/BITS25' with error code 0x80004005).]LOG]!><time="11:49:02.496+-60" date="10-07-2011" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="3" thread="996" file="ccmsetup.cpp:7067">

WIn7 Pro Client ccmsetup.log attached

When I try to bring up that URL ('http://SCCM_Server/CCM_Client/i386/BITS25' ) on the SCCM server, I get

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

Under the most likely causes section, it suggests

•The directory or file specified does not exist on the Web server.

•The URL contains a typographical error.

•A custom filter or module, such as URLScan, restricts access to the file.

I realise that there is a lot of reference to this sort of issue in various Forums but the answers are very varied (from uninstalling to re-installing IIS, to permissions on the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager dir)

I appreciate there's a lot of related questions on various forums regarding these sorts of errors but the answers vary from incorrect permsiions on client dir on SCCM dir to IIS needing to be uninstalled and re-installed on the server.

What are my best troubleshooting steps, pleaseccmsetup.log
