Muhammad, couple of questions:

I have two virtual machines. One is windows server 2008 and second is installed windows xp using MDT 2010, installed in windows server 2008. windows xp is installed now but it does not have an ethernet driver even it is a virtual machine what I do now please.

What VM technology are you using? Are you using Hyper-V, VMWare, Proxmox...?

Second I want to add many software in application section of MDT 2010. In previous setup I just add MS Office 2007. but it did not installed, why? I used "setup" as a command line.

For Office 2007, create an mst file with the office customization tool (setup /admin) you can run the installation silently with just the setup.exe command. All you have to do is to put the mst in the update folder.

Fourth is if I want to add the drivers how to do this what files i include please if you guide me step by step. I will be thanksfull to you.

For drivers, you want to load your *.sys files into the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.

You do not want to deploy using wireless, it is not a good way, and may cause a lot of problems. Always use a wired network connection.

Thanks for reply MUHAMMAD.

I am using Vmware 8 version.

The problem is solved by little change that come in my mind I just tried and solved ALHAMDULILLAH. When I create new virtual machine and try to install using boot from lan it said lan card drive error. so I change the same name in clien vmx file as one in server vmx file this file have configuration. worked fine. After the instalaltion I changed backed the vmx file to old one as it were created default by vmware.

what is mst file how to do this? sorry I dont know about this please explain.

I used "setup" in command line. afetr xp installation it ask me to install. while in office 2007 it does not work the same name in command line. if I want to install many softwrae like Foxit Reader, some downlad manage how to find the command line name of these software.

I want to give the exam of 70-680 book. can you tell me some questions book tht asked by microsoft in exam.

  • 1. Download the Office Resource Kit, which is available for free from the Microsoft support website. From the Internet browser, right-click on the file named "ork.exe" and select "Save As." A dialog box will open. Browse to the location on the computer where you would like to save the file, and click "Save."
  • 2. Open the downloaded "ork.exe" file by clicking the "Start" menu, selecting "My Computer" and browsing to the location where it was saved. Double-click on the file to launch the installation, which will detect Office and install automatically.
  • 3. Click "Start" and "Programs." Locate "Microsoft Office" from the list. Select "Microsoft Office Tools." Select "Microsoft Office Resource Kit." Click "Profile Wizard."

  • 4. Select the tab marked "Save or Restore Settings" from the Profile Wizard window. Choose "Save the Settings from this Machine" and enter a full name and path for the new file, such as "c:\backup\example.mst." Click "Next."
  • 5. Click the check boxes next to the Microsoft Office programs for which you would like to backup settings. For example, if the settings used in Word and Excel need to be saved and duplicated, select only these. Choose only the required Office programs to reduce the file's complexity.
  • 6. Click "Finish." The settings from the selected Office programs will be saved in one file. Verify the file's existence by browsing to the chosen location in "My Computer" and confirming that the ".mst" file is there.

More information about the Office Resource kit is located here.
