System drive label wrong after deploying via SCCM R3 Pre-Staged image

Question

Hi,

Deployed a few laptops from SCCM 2007 R3 via the Pre-Staged Media option.

Everything looks great, however the drive label for C: is show as "Even Glemmestad" (my name) in My Computer. This is regardless of the logged in user or first logged on user. When running "diskpart" and "list volume" the C:-drive is listed with label "SYSTEM" (correct), and the same is also shown when viewing the properties for the C-drive. In My Computer, however, the icon for the C-drive is the same as for unknown files, and the text is "Even Glemmestad". I am the one that created the image and task sequence, and my name is listed as the "Created by" on the Windows 7 image.

It is not possible to change the label / display name of the C-drive. When changing it (F2) it asks for administrative permission, then returns back with the name still the same.

Any ideas why this might happen?

I have a feeling this might have to do with a description field or something, as I have a feint memory of reading something of the sort on some website...

Just about to order 300 laptops with the image pre-staged, and although cool, I wouldn't want 300 users ending up with my name as the C-drive label :)

Kind regards,

Even Glemmestad

Looks like its a bug in how installation are done via Pre-Staged media. There are files and folders left over that should have been cleaned up.

Will add a step at the end of my task sequence to clean up these files and folders.
