jaysjay Posted April 30, 2008 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Hi, I dont know if this is the right place to post this but here goes. We just recieved a bunch load of optiplex 755. We have a working sccm server and want to deploy all in this environment. I've read the other post on this site regarding the same issue we got. We cannot boot into a winpe 2.0 with our 755's. What i've done so far. Service tag. 2HDZK3J Updated bios to A09 Intregreted dell's NIC vista R162323.EXE driver into both x64 and x86 boot.wim Tried every sata mode in bios Downloaded your boot image but we cannot boot into winpe with that. Here's what happens. F12 boot menu Choosing network boot. It detect's some x64 in the cpu so therefore it boots from the x64 boot image - which is fine Then it starts loading the winpe and detecting hardware and then some nic things after that it's just the winpe background and nothing happens 30 seconds later rebooting by itself. I havent contacted Dell yet, I wanted to try here first. jaysjay
0 anyweb Posted April 30, 2008 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 hi and welcome to the forums are you trying to use WDS to load your optiplex 755's with vista or xp or are you doing something else (capturing/deploying wds images...) on the front of your dell optiplex, does it say VPRO anywhere ? SCCM has its own wds. And we are trying to capture a xp image.. and after that I want to deploy the image i've captured. It's not a VPRO. 0 anyweb Posted May 2, 2008 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 ok first of all lets rule out storage as the issue:- have you tried changing the AHCI/SATA mode in bios ? SATA Operation (RAID Autodetect/AHCI default for mini-tower and desktop) (AHCI default for small form factor and ultra small form factor) Options for Mini Tower and Desktop: * RAID Autodetect/AHCI (RAID if signed drives, otherwise AHCI) * RAID Autodetect/ATA (RAID if signed drives, otherwise ATA) * RAID On (SATA is configured for RAID on every boot) NOTE: When in Autodetect mode, the computer configures the drive as RAID if a RAID signature is detected on the drive. Otherwise the drive will be configured as AHCI or ATA. Options for Small Form Factor and Ultra Small Form Factor: * AHCI * ATA if changing that doesnt help your problem then we need to know exactly how you created your Windows PE image (what boot.wim file did you use and from what DVD (msdn/dell oem vista dvd) please specify cheers anyweb

AHCI/ATA/RAID and Legacy mode The Boot.wim file we are using are the standard file thats come's with SCCM 2007 sp1. And from what I read its a standard vista boot.wim file. Not sure though... Hi,
I dont know if this is the right place to post this but here goes.
We just recieved a bunch load of optiplex 755. We have a working sccm server and want to deploy all in this environment.
I've read the other post on this site regarding the same issue we got. We cannot boot into a winpe 2.0 with our 755's.
What i've done so far.
Service tag. 2HDZK3J
Updated bios to A09
Intregreted dell's NIC vista R162323.EXE driver into both x64 and x86 boot.wim
Tried every sata mode in bios
Downloaded your boot image but we cannot boot into winpe with that.
Here's what happens.
F12 boot menu
Choosing network boot.
It detect's some x64 in the cpu so therefore it boots from the x64 boot image - which is fine
Then it starts loading the winpe and detecting hardware and then some nic things after that it's just the winpe background and nothing happens
30 seconds later rebooting by itself.
I havent contacted Dell yet, I wanted to try here first.
