bulldozer Posted July 26, 2012 Report post Posted July 26, 2012 thought i share my experience with WDS not starting I have AD, DHCP, DNS and SCCM2012 RTM all on the one server WDS not installed as a role server and used SCCM2012 distribution point to enable PXE so WDS service gets installed automatically. reboot the VM and when starting the WDS service, i get an error in event viewer "The Windows Deployment Services Server service terminated with service-specific error 10048 (0x2740)" the fix was to disable DHCP from listening on port 67 from this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954410 from that article I went into the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WDSServer\Providers\WDSPXE to disable it and then started WDS service and it worked.
