Sorry for the delayed response, but I've been trying to figure these out on my own. In regard to the TS not completing, it was definitely a driver issue and that has been resolved. However... no matter what I do, I cannot get the deploy TS to let the drive be labeled as C:\. I've tried putting in the _OSDPreserveDriveLetter variable which didn't seem to help. I even disabled the default format steps that are included when the TS is originally created and made my own simple format and partition step. Still the same result no matter what I try.

I've configured complete SCCM environment using your portal which is very helpfull for beginnger.

 

Mean while I've got struck during the OS deployment, Could you please put on the rigth track

 

Find the details of the issue.

 

I've configured sccm environment using VMware workstation 10.0

 

done the deloyment configuration completely, but in the new machine(wihtout OS) after getting booted from network, it prompting an error:

 

PXE-T04 Access voilation,

 

(Also I've the details of SCCM in BOOTP under DHCP)

 

Kindly help in resolving.

Hello. Wondering if I can get some help with a few things. The way I'm looking to do my backups and restores are as follows.

 

Older computer - Capture userstate/Files - labels them as computer name on network location.

New computer - Restore userstate/files by entering old computers name.

 

This is how we had it setup with MDT, how can I do this in system center? I don't want to restore files bassed off of the computers primary users as We have alot of shared computers and it would make the most since if I had a task sequence to backup the old computer files to a network location and then had a restore task sequence that prompted for the computer name and restored the files from the old machine. Also if there is a way to do UEL:90 and restore only user profiles from the last 90 days.

 

Any thoughts or ideas would be great! We are on the final road to system center and didn't think USMT was that complicated.

You can simply create a computer association to make sure that the data will be restored on the right computer (User State Migration node in the Assets and Compliance workspace)

I don't quit follow what you mean by a "computer association"? Could you walk me threw how to backup the data on computer A and restore it to computer B?

Ah Ok I figured that out. Now can I just make a TS for USMT backup and a TS for USMT restore and deploy it to each computer?

Perfect! So I made a capture TS and it took about 30 min to capture and the file is about 4 gigs. However when I go to the computer and deploy the Restore TS it completes in about 20 seconds and says it was sucessfull but didn't restore anything? Any ideas? Appriciate all the help!

 

Also my migration status just says in progress. Even after the restore TS says it completed....

 

I do see this in the laodstate log on the machine I am trying to restore to.

It sounds like your resore task sequence didn't complete successful. You might want to check the smsts log on that machine.
