sccm 2007 R3 ,Software update

The patch downloads slowly take place and the majority of downloads only taking place when the deadline is reached in SCCM 2007 R3 .But I want to download the patches at the beginning in just few minutes of time . Is there any way to achieve it ?

Yup, make them available direclty (properties of the deployment and then the schedule tab)

I selected the option "AS soon as possilbe" but they are getting downloaded in 1 hour time in 500 desktops .I am expecting it to be happen in all my 500 desktops with in few minutes of time

It won't happen within a few minutes, because the policy refreshes don't happen that often.
