SCCM 2012 - Problem copying software package files to DP

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I'm currently in the process of setting up a SCCM 2012 primary site server to replace our old 2007 site system. The server I'm using for our 2012 installation is a Windows Server 2K8 R2 Datacenter virtual machine with SQL Server 2008, 4 GB RAM and two drives - a 100 GB drive for the OS and a 400 GB drive for our distribution point and its files. I've set up the server's roles, SQL database and SCCM site according to the first few parts of the "Using SCCM 2012 RC in a Lab" tutorial on this site, and now I've encountered a problem. I'm trying to build some software packages to use for deployments to test clients, and I've already copied the software source files from our old 2007 server to our new server's source files share. I've also made sure that the distribution point role has been installed and configured on our 2012 server. Lastly, the two programs that I'm trying to silently deploy/install to the test clients I have are Mozilla Firefox 8.0.1 and Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55.

The trouble I'm having is that after I have created each package and specified the location for each package's source files, they won't fully copy over to our server's DP via the Distribute Content Wizard in the SCCM console. When I go to look in the SMSPKGSIG folder on the drive used by our DP, only 127 KB of the 14,416 KB (14.0 MB) Firefox setup EXE copies over. Furthermore, SCCM reports no errors when I query for messages regarding the distribution point role on the server--the opposite happens, in fact. The SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER component reports message ID 2330 and says "Distribution Manager successfully distributed package ITM00008 to distribution point..." blah blah blah. Message ID 2301 is also reported in which the SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER states that "Distribution Manager successfully processed package Mozilla Firefox."

The same thing happens with the Flash Player software package I've created...only 36 KB of each MSI file will copy over instead of the full 2-3 MB file size that each MSI has. I've tried removing and recreating the Distribution Point role, I've checked the permissions to make sure that my domain account, the SYSTEM account and the server's computer account have full control over both the source files share and the DP folder and I've verified that the source files are intact as they are being successfully used for deployments via our 2007 server and I can run them on the 2012 server as if I was going to actually install those two programs manually.

I would appreciate any input as to why this might be happening or how to fix it. If you need any more info for me, even screenshots, let me know and I'll be happy to provide whatever is needed.

Thanks in advance.
