0 WinOutreach4 Posted February 8, 2012 Report post Posted February 8, 2012 Microsoft does not support the use of the DHCP options 60, 66, and 67 to redirect PXE clients (when the DHCP server and PXE server are on different computers). In the article I linked below (Managing Network Boot Programs) it is stated that option 60 requires that DHCP and PXE need to be on the same server. You will need to either put them together on the same server, or use the router’s IP Helper tables (BOOTP) to resolve this issue. Please see this knowledgebase article for full details on this issue. Also, this is the TechNet article mentioned above: Managing Network Boot Programs Hope this helps, David Windows Outreach Team – IT Pro www.microsoft.com/springboard
0 RebelRenegade Posted February 11, 2012 Report post Posted February 11, 2012 Remove DHCP option 60 and leave 66,67.
0 JoshuaF Posted March 21, 2012 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 This was the exact problem I had, once I unchecked DHCP Option 60 it started working correctly.
0 DeckTeck Posted April 18, 2012 Report post Posted April 18, 2012 As long as your PXE and DHCP servers are not the on the same server, you can try applying Opition 60 under Server Options on your DHCP server. Then on your WDS server in WDS properties click the Advanced tab and select the radio button beside "Authorize the Windows Deployment Services server in DHCP" and now everything works for me as well. Hello everyone,
Hope everyone had a good winter break.
I'm having issues with pxebooting laptops. The following error appears when trying to PXEboot.
Client IP: 10.18.X.X Mask: 255.255.X.X DHCP IP: 10.18.X.X
PXE-E55: Proxy DHCP service did not reply to request on port 4011
Below are the details of the configuration. No SMS or ConfigMgr
- DHCP and WDS are on DIFFERENT servers
- Do not have much control of DHCP server
60 pxeboot.com
66 10.18.40.20 - ip of wds
67 boot\x64\wdsnbp.com
- full control on WDS
added boot and capture image using x64 boot.wim
Do not listen on port 67 NOT CHECKED
Configure DHCP option 60 NOT CHECKED
10.18.40.20:4011 active udp port
10.18.40.20:67 active
10.18.40.20:69 active
questions
- what is not configured correctly?
- do i need to inject nic drivers (using Dell E6420 laptop) into the boot image or will boot image work with any computer that is PXE capable?
Thanks in advance!
