larrylaffer133 Posted January 10, 2012 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 This is my first post and I would like to say that this is a fantastic website with lots of great information. I am very glad I stumbled upon it. I am having an issue with my SCCM 2012 environment: I have an SCCM 2007 environment that works fine, and I tried replicating the settings when configuring my SCCM 2012 RC environment. I used the same OS images, boot images, and packages that I used in 2007. To test OS deployment, I create a VM, attach the boot image created with SCCM 2012, and when the VM boots up with the SCCM 2012 screen, it says "Windows is starting up" then "Preparing network connections" and then reboots. This cycle continuously loops. The VM I created is in the collection I am using. I have a deployment in the collection that points to the task sequence. I added the ditribution point to a group and added that group to the collection. How can I debug this? I am not sure if it is a site setting, or something with my task sequence or what. The only setting I could not find in SCCM 2012 that I configured in 2007 was to "Allow clients to transfer content from this distribution point using BITS, HTTP, and HTTPS" but I am not sure if that is the reason I am having this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Joe
anyweb Posted January 10, 2012 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 what vm are you using ? is it vmware ? you probably need to add network drivers to your boot image, enable command prompt support in your boot image to test the theory before it reboots that is. larrylaffer133 Posted January 10, 2012 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 I created the VM in SCVMM 2012 RC, and the same VM worked with SCCM 2007. I used all the same resources from the 2007 environment so I don't think I would have to add any network drivers but I could be wrong. anyweb Posted January 10, 2012 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 well check by enabling command prompt support, without an ip it will reboot
larrylaffer133 Posted January 11, 2012 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 In SCCM I enabled command support on the boot image, but now what? I found that it is a boot.wim file, so I mounted it to a directory, and then created an ISO from that directory. When I mounted the ISO to my VM it said BOOTMGR not found. larrylaffer133 Posted January 11, 2012 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Nevermind I got the ISO working, I had to add that boot.wim file to the ISO. When I boot from it and click next on the Task Sequence wizard, it tries retrieving the policy for the computer and then I get an error: Failed to Run Task Sequence. An error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer (0x80070057). For more information, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator. If I try to configure network settings before that, it shows my Intel NIC and I can manually set a static IP if I want, so I believe the drivers are OK. larrylaffer133 Posted January 11, 2012 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 If it helps, in the smsts log, I noticed an error: "MP Location returned an empty site code" and also "RequestMPLocation failed"
