Please help me, ive tried to do the OSD with capture and restore USMT, everythings going fine , initially the user capture is done successfully as we have the file created of the data backup. OS is deployed and softwares are installed sucecessfully but when it comes to the restore part it give the error mesage 0x00004005 or 0x00002004.
Now in my TS im using the original source for windows installation and not the image and im specifying the drive letter c where the OS ahs to be installed. Just to let u know all this.
I have Waik installed and the source file is selected from the program files USMT folder, Ive also tried by extracting 3.0.1 USMT but it didnt work out same error mesasge it gives when the USMT was 3.0.1 selected as the source file. Even after changing the source file to C:Program files->WAIK->tools->USMT it still gives the same error message.
We not formatting the PC in the TS, The local drive on server which has 20Gb free sapace is selected as the backup location for the USMT.
The option of Restore only mode is unchecked in the USMT role.
Its so annoying to be so close but yet so far for the refresh to start in our Organization.
We have some 1000 PC's to refresh from windows XP to Windows7 with different desktops and laptop models. Please help as we are ready with everything but cannot go ahead until we have a solution for this.
The KB 974571 from the mahcines is uninstalled and OSD with USMT was tried. The other thing of the server KB977203 ive been going thru its complicated and i am unable to understand.
