JBAB Posted April 11, 2012 Report post Posted April 11, 2012 Hi all What is the new best practice to deploy and update software (like FireFox) With SCCM 2007 i have done it like that: - Change the FireFox Update Collection to the newer Program Version --> so that all computers will be in it - Create a new FireFox Package and advertisment - SCCM installes the new FireFox as i wished What would be the same process with SCCM 2012? best regards JBAB
mickblanko Posted April 13, 2012 Report post Posted April 13, 2012 Off the top of my head I would think in 2012 we could do something along the lines of… Create a new application with the new Firefox version Set the new Firefox version to ‘supersede’ the old Firefox version Remove the old Firefox deployment and retire the old Application Deploy the new Firefox version to the required collection Can anyone suggest a better way? Of course you could do it via SCUP and SCCM Software updates if you have some cash: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrsum/thread/dc973dde-7886-4a06-bb51-67fb05238ed6
Peter van der Woude Posted April 13, 2012 Report post Posted April 13, 2012 I think I would swich step 3 & 4. So that by deploying the new version to the same collection as the old version, it can uninstall the old version (automatically) and install the new version.
