Recommended Posts

Hello this has been a really excellent feed. But no matter what I do I can not get Configuration manager to get get past the pre-requisites check. As expeted the WSUS warning is their. But there is also the following errors:

Firewall exeception for SQL ServerScreenshot of sccm pre-recquisitespost-16366-0-09764900-1339099464_thumb.jpg

I am able to connect to the SQL server with SQL server management studio with the Administrator acct that I am using to install SCCM 2012. I am able to browse through all parts of SQL server management studio.

The firewall exceptions have been made through active directory for ports 1433 and 4200.

from your ConfigMgrSetup.log

"ERROR: The current user does not have administrative rights on computer: SC01.edgeoffice.local. $$<"

is the logged on user a domain user and a local administrator of this computer ?

I have been able to install every other module except Configuration Manager. here is the list that I have installed on the SC01 server. App Controller, Operations manager, VMM, DPM, Orchestrator and Server manager managment server. All of these modules were able to connect to the SQL server and authenticate.

Instead of installing SQL on the CAS and the primary site. isn't better to make one SQLserver instead and direct the CAS and the primary towards that Server?

Love the articles, they have helped me so much. now I have been googling around for a way to add the Client install to the local admin group, through GPO instead of logging in to every machine, not much other than restricted groups or scripts. why not use another setting in the GPO?

you said: "* ClientInstall, a domain user used when installing the Configuration Manager Client for Client Push. This user must be a local administrator on computers you want to install the Configuration Manager Client."

how about doing like this, not sure if you want to add it as a step? it would be faster, except for DC's since they dont have a local admin group. The steps i did i used PSR.exe great tool for these walk-through.

adding a local admin.zip

thanks, people still do want to do client push though, even if it's the manual option. I will certaintly consider adding this as a step in the next iteration of these guides, thanks !

As regards getting the client on the computers i've simplified it even more using Microsoft's best practise method which i describe in detail in Part 5 of this series (linked below).
