Applications & Update Package stuck on "Waiting to install"

Recommended Posts

I have had SCCM 2012 up and running for a week, this is my first time using SCCM and it has been a steep learning curve! Anyway I have done a capture and build for my XP image and it seems all the assigned software and updates seems to get stuck with the status waiting to install in the software centre. This includes the Forefront updates which were previously working and a flash application. My setup was done using the the excellent guides on this site.

I have had applications and Forefront updates working great before on my other test VMs but now I have done this new image, this issue has appeared. I created more than one VM just in case it was related to a single install but the fresh install did exactly the same. I plan to deploy a Windows 7 image tomorrow to rule out an XP issue.

The packages seem to be okay on the DP and I have run the flash installer manually to check it works okay. I thought at first this was due to some kind of maintenance window (I haven't set any) so I ticked the box to ignore that and redeployed but it made no difference.

So where do I start to troubleshoot this? Which logs etc?

Any help greatly appreciated as I thought I was finally getting somewhere!

Hey Chris - I had a similar problem. I noticed that it happened when I later deployed an OS to the same machine I used for the build and capture process. I ended up with two entries for the device in SCCM. I deleted both, started from scratch, and the applications installed correctly.

Did you try deploying to another machine to see if they work at all?
