Deploying Applications

Recommended Posts

Hi I am having a small problem. When assigning machines to a specific collection that is made, software is being pushed alright. When software is being removed from machines locally by admins SCCM does not re-push it, how do I make it re-push the software to machines where it gets uninstalled at? (Is there a way of doing it without removing and readding the machines from the collection?)

Thanks.

Hi,

I assume we are talking SCCM 2007, then the answer is no, you need to make use of a collection structure that moves the client from the "Install" collection and adds it back when hardware inventory reports the application is missing. You also need to set the advertisement to rerun on a schedule otherwise the installation will not run again even if added back to the "Install" collection.

Thanks for you response Jorgen. Yes I am using SCCM 2007. So what would be the best and the quickest was of pushing out the installation again? Remove the machine from the collection, wait 10 minutes or so, re-add the machine to the collection, and rerun the advertismenet? Is there a better way?

Hi,

Are we talking about one machine or many?

If one I would use SCCM Client Center to achieve it: http://sourceforge.net/projects/smsclictr/ or Right click tools. Using that you can connect to the client computer and rerun the advertisement manually.

Jörgen

Yeah there is one test machine in the collection for now, and I am trying to re-push it after deleting it locally, but for some reason it's just not doing it. I tried to remove, readd the machine to the collection, and followed with rerun advertisement from tools, but it does not install it on the machine anymore... What do you think could be causing this?
