injecting drivers to a captured image

Question

Hi everyone,

I don't know if I'm in the right section but I been trying to

deploy an image to a new model pc which I captured the image from an older

model pc used Windows AIK added the chipset drivers offline and did a commit

and now I'm trying to deploy this updated image to this new model pc and it

doesn't boot into Windows Vista but it will work on the same model pc, althought

if I sysprep the image again it will work on the new model, why is that, it's almost seems

like the chipset drivers didn't get installed but then if I sysprep it works. The reason why

I'm doing this is because a client has alot of applications and configurations which I want

to avoid building her pc from scratch and just capture the image and the chipset drivers offline

commit it and then being able to deploy it to this new model pc. It's odd because I'm sure I have

done this in the past and for a reason or another it doesn't work.

Thank you for your help.

Mark

It sounds like the older chipset drivers are conflicting. Sysprep removes the old drivers, which is why that works. This article may help you to remove the old drivers while offline before injecting the new drivers. Another option would be to boot the old model up and use Device Manager and Programs and Features to remove the old drivers.

Hope this helps,
