gsankowsky Posted July 17, 2012 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Hi, This is my first post so please excuse me if I miss something... I have no background in SCCM 2007 or earlier....we're running a new installation of SCCM 2012 at our school. I have a TS for installing Win 7 x64. I have used collection variables (CORE01, etc) to install multiple applications during OSD. This works fine until by itself. I also have an Adobe CS6 package that's around 4.5gb. This installs fine if I do not install the previous CORE packages, but fails if I try to run both in sequence. I believe it is because I am hitting the default cache limit of 5120mb. To solve this I have tried adding SMSCACHESIZE=10240 to the installation properties for the "Setup Windows and Configuration Manager" step. Below is a sample of the SMSTS.log that shows the application install failed due to not downloading. jkabaseball Posted July 18, 2012 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 I sometimes throw in a reboot if the PC is having issues with installing certain appliations without rebooting. I have had issues with acrobat before.
gsankowsky Posted July 26, 2012 Report post Posted July 26, 2012 Hi, I've added in a reboot, doesn't seem to make any changes. 5120mb doesn't go too far when our CS6 install is 4.5gb. Strange thing is adding SMSCACHESIZE=10400 works for our automatic site install for existing machines, just not for OSD deployment. nry Posted November 15, 2012 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Did you ever get this sorted to be set higher during OS Deployment? It is causing us a few headaches here, out base software applications total well over the base 5bytes, also in a school environment
Peter33 Posted November 15, 2012 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Edit the command line in your client package. CCMSETUP.EXE /mp:SERVER SMSSITECODE=XXX /noservice FSP=SERVER SMSCACHESIZE=20000
Rocket Man Posted November 15, 2012 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Looking at your snippet above I think you have not created the configMgrClient ALL 5.0 and distributed out to DP...you are using the standard out of the box client..if this is the case then.this maybe your problem.......create the new client......create new package from definition and select the configMgrClient ALL 5.0 and point the source to your SMS_xxx\client...distribute and create a new TS and choose this new client package and when finished creating TS edit it and add in the parameter SMSCACHESIZE=XXXXXX I have just tested this out by adding SMSCACHESIZE=15000 in my TS and it worked... nry Posted November 16, 2012 Report post Posted November 16, 2012 I am most definitely using a new client package following the instructions from this site and I have that parameter set - whilst it works deplying the client to a pre-installed computer, if you use MDT to deploy the OS via SCCM 2012, that parameter is ignored and this fact is documented by MS. I cannot get this parameter to work during OS deployment.
nry Posted November 16, 2012 Report post Posted November 16, 2012 I'm also curious how you set those parameters you mention? CCMSETUP.EXE /mp:SERVER SMSSITECODE=XXX /noservice FSP=SERVER SMSCACHESIZE=20000 You can't set these when you create a package from a definition unless I'm missing something? nry Posted November 16, 2012 Report post Posted November 16, 2012 Just trying creation of a new Package and not using a definition - added the same package source as the definition uses for the client and added the command lines you mention, obviously altering them to suit our setup. Time will tell
Peter33 Posted November 16, 2012 Report post Posted November 16, 2012 Yes, its recommended to create a new package by definition. Then just replace the command line.
