doctora Posted August 20, 2012 Report post Posted August 20, 2012 I am new to this and I am a bit confused. If I have a blank machine and I do a delpoy and capture and use it as my base image it works perfectly. I have a nice shiny new windows 7 pc. Now if I want to add office, .Net framework, virtual client and a couple other features that I know all my machines will need and then create a new WIM file from that and deply it works fine except that it installs on D. I have read through the blogs and I have seen advice to use deploy and capture but how would I get some of the other stuff in the image. There might be a guide or post out there that I missed but I have spent the last two weeks looking through the guides and posts and I can't seem to find anything that works. If the only option is to add the other stuff as packages and include them during the install then I will do that but I was under the impression that it could be done as a single image. Thanks in advance Mark
Peter van der Woude Posted August 20, 2012 Report post Posted August 20, 2012 How do you create the new WIM image (what does your task sequence looks like)? Did you build it of the original Windows 7 source?
tmiller_hockey Posted August 20, 2012 Report post Posted August 20, 2012 You can add your applications to the machine and then from the console create a "Capture Media Disk" you can then utilize it to capture your finished machine. doctora Posted August 20, 2012 Report post Posted August 20, 2012 From my initial deploy and capture build I installed a base Windows 7 system. I then added my components and used a Capture Media Disk to capture the machine. Task Sequence 1) Install an existing image package 2) Task sequence name - "Test build" : Description - "Test Build Description" : Boot image - 64bit 3) Image package - The one I built : Image "All Images" : No product key : Disable local administrator 4) Join a workgroup "WORKGROUP" : No other oprions selected. 5) Select the Client. 6) Deselect all State Migration. 7) Do not install updates.(I did this on the original Base image) 8) No added Applications. I did not mess with rightclick -> edit Task sequence. Thanks for helping with this. Mark
