Stopping the Task Sequnce to execute automatically when booted from Stand Alone TS media

Question

Hi..

We are migrating to Windows 7 using the Stand alone USB Task Sequence media created by SCCM. Now i would like to include Symantec Ghost also into the same USB thumb drive for some disk cloning and backup purposes.

I want to have an option to start either Ghost or Task Sequence. For this, I can write a script which can promt to select which opttion to chosse..

But the problem is, i could not stop the task sequence to execute automatically after booting from the USB.

Any suggestions on stopping the TS to execute atomatically??

you can simply create a step in your task sequence to start a HTA (hypertext application) which itself gives the user options such as Deploy Windows 7 using Configuration Manager or use Ghost (for whatever reason)

do you know that you can create full wim backups of your images without using ghost ? and migrate the data too ? see this HTA which does it all (and more)

cheers

Almost there... Modified the Windows-noob Front end as per my requirement. Since I am not very familiar with scripting, it took a while for me to understand and modify the hta. Not yet included in the task sequence. Will do it tomorrow and post the results...

Thanks for the help Niall....

no problem, it is doable without MDT but i see NO reason to NOT use MDT integration in Configmgr (no need for an MDT database, just integrate it to get acccess to the mdt scripts etc.)

Got it working on the first go..... :-)

But I have problems with the resolution and icon Overlapping. Hope I can solve them.

Between, is there any option to get rid of those sccm default pop-up windows asking to click "Next" at the start of the task sequence and the window showing the task sequnece name. And is it possible to customize the progress bar too?? I want to add a progress bar with our custom back ground.

Ran into a new problem now.... I have got a brand new sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 thumb drive and created a Stand alone TS media on that. On a 2.0 USB port it is throwing an error saying "Unable to read task sequuence configuration disk"... I havn't tried it on a 3.0 port yet... any ideas??

Thnaks..

Srinu...
