Oneone Posted February 28, 2013 Report post Posted February 28, 2013 Hi, I'm trying to do this with Window xp sp3 but don't see install.wim file. Is there another way to accomplish this? Thanks Yes there is you will have to do a manuall installation of windows XP on a virtual machine then do a capture with media from SCCM to get your wimfile, after that you can add it to the CM. ogeccut Posted March 1, 2013 Report post Posted March 1, 2013 So i have imported OS Installer. And on install windows OS image is not available until install.wim is added to OS images. Is that correct? Why do i need to have it in both places? installers and images?
quarky Posted March 22, 2013 Report post Posted March 22, 2013 Hi, If you create a new task sequence in SP1,you can specify "Partition and format the target computer before installing the operating system" if you are running MDT Task Sequence you have to specifi the driver letter C: in the sequence under "apply operating system" step. So do we still need to a do a build and capture? I thought the main point of doing this (rather than just distributing a Windows 8 image) is the fact that it would install to d:\ Thanks
anyweb Posted March 25, 2013 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 no you don't need to do a build and capture unless you want to use a captured wim with some settings and applications changed, and windows updates applied (for example)

anyweb Posted May 8, 2013 Report post Posted May 8, 2013 it's not broken ! it's a design change, to see how to use the new method read this post, you can always add an operating system installer by editing the task sequence after it's created if you really want to use setup.exe
