Peter van der Woude Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 You should be careful during a migration situation. As long as both sites are-up-and-running make sure that a boundary is only connected to one site. The best way is indeed by using IP-ranges, but then you still have to make sure that the specific IP-range does not exist in an AD Site boundary of the other site. The biggest problem with overlapping is unpredictable client behavior, which means as much as, it could work once and then ten times not... jcosley Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 So would my best route be taking all the AD site boundaries out and just do IP ranges instead?
Peter van der Woude Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 That the best and, in my opinion, the only way to be in control during a migration.
jcosley Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Once I update the boundaries - how to do update the site to take the new boundaries? Any services i need to bounch or anyting i need to update?
Peter van der Woude Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Nope, it should write it almost immediately to the Active Directory.
jcosley Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Alright, i'll put the ip address ranges in for each location and see what happens.
Peter van der Woude Posted October 2, 2012 Report post Posted October 2, 2012 Good luck! And remember an Ip range (boundary) should only be connected to one Site!
jcosley Posted October 3, 2012 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 Good luck! And remember an Ip range (boundary) should only be connected to one Site! Â Ok....so I put the IP ranges in there this time - still packages don't pull down and download...?? Here's what I have for my boundaries....what am I missing? Is this because I have an SMS2003 running as well with the same AD boundaries? IF i shut that one off would that resolve my issues? jcosley Posted October 3, 2012 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 Ok so...my old SMS2003 server has boundaries set from this Ad server already ...basically all they are using the SMS2003 server for right now is just remote tools...can i take the site boundaries out of that SMS server settings? and would that resolve my issues do you think? Peter van der Woude Posted October 3, 2012 Report post Posted October 3, 2012 Removing the boundaries from the SMS 2003 would solve your overlapping boundaries problem. Boundaries are used for Site Assignment and Content Locations.
