Windows 7 sccm task sequence 64 bit

Question

Hi,

I am new to sccm so im not an expert so this may be a stupid question.

I originally created a task sequence using a 32 bit image. i was just asked to create another for a 64 bit machine. i swapped the swapped the 32 bit image with the 64bit but however it keeps failing after it does the "setup windows and ConfigrMgr" step.

Does anyone know what the problem is,,, ive read a few things about a registry porblem.

please help??

  1. Did you duplicate another task sequence, or build a new one?
  2. Did you select a 64-bit boot image instead of a 32-bit boot image?
  3. What is the error you're getting when the task sequence fails?
  4. Have you checked the smsts.log to see what's going on?

    1. You'll want to enable command prompt support in your boot images, which will allow you to find and open smsts.log. Depending on where you are at in the task sequence, it will be in different locations.
