DP's not always showing up

Hi

 

I have a CAS Server and 1 Site Server which has the DP role installed.

 

For some reason sometime when i try distribute an update for a patch or Window Image, the DP does not show up.

 

I end up having to uninstall the DP role from the Site Server and then adding it again.

 

Is there any idea why this is occuring or a log file i can check why this is occuring.

 

Also any idea how big a DP storage should be?

That's because the content is already on the DP, try redistributing it from either the properties of the package, or the properties of the DP. The size of the DP storage totally depends on the number of packages and the expected growth.

Hi Peter, even if you have made a change to a package, i sometime don't see the DP available when i try to redistribute.

That's because when you make a change on a package in other words you are updating the package for whatever reasons i:e new files etc...then all you have to do is right click on the package or use the ribbon located across the top of the console to update(not redistribute) any DPs that the content is already stored on.........To fully test your problem just create a new dummy package and then try to distribute it out....it should then bring up the DP list as it is new and has not been distributed yet!

 

As for your DP storage as Peter has said it depends on the amount of content you need...how many images/software/update packages etc...It is best practice to consider and plan all of this before implementation especially on a production environnment
