brink668 Posted October 17, 2012 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 In SCCM 2007R2 I can only select the following for Windows 8 within Search Folders. Windows 8 Consumer Preview. WSUS is showing updates for Windows 8 and I can select that. How can I enable Windows 8 updates on my SCCM Environment? Do I have to upgrade to 2007R3? Or is there a hotfix/patch that will enable this access without causing too much trouble?
anyweb Posted October 17, 2012 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 full support for Windows 8 and Server 2012 will not be provided via Configuration Manager 2007 or Configuration Manager 2012 until early 2013. please review the following Microsoft statement for details of that Question: Which versions of Configuration Manager will support Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012? Answer: We are adding support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 in both System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 and Configuration Manager 2007 with SP2 (includes Configuration Manager 2007 R2 and Configuration Manager 2007 R3). This support and any required updates will be available in the same timeframe as System Center 2012 SP1 in early 2013.
brink668 Posted October 17, 2012 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks, I was hoping it was coming sooner... as WSUS already supports it.
Mikey C Posted October 31, 2012 Report post Posted October 31, 2012 If you have a dev/test environment - Why not try approving the Windows 8 updates in WSUS and seeing what happens to SU. It would be interesting to see what happens. I expect that the Win 8 machines will update wirthout issue, its whether the SUP has issues as its not supported by MS to make any changes via the WSUS console when its linked to SCCM.
