pbalderos Posted October 17, 2012 Report post Posted October 17, 2012 I am evaluating two Lenovo laptops. A T430 and newer model T430s. I was able to PXE boot the T430s and image it but now when I try to PXE boot I get the following errors: PXE Boot aborted. Exiting Intel Boot The reason I decided to go back and image it again is because the drivers did no install the first time. And the reason is because I did not create a task sequence the first time. Actions taken: Restarted the WDS service on sccm server and attempted to PXE boot again. The laptop did not PXE boot I imported the network adapter driver and added to the boot image(x64) and still same issue the laptop won't reboot. When I tried to reimage the other T430 it does PXE boot with no problem. Lets look at the diff between the two They both use the same driver pack The second T430 still has the factory OS in tact as I just opened it. Rocket Man Posted October 18, 2012 Report post Posted October 18, 2012 Is it unknown deployment you are using? If so then your 1st laptop will not PXE to unknown deployments anymore as it is now known to configMgr(after been imaged). The 2nd one is Out of the Box so is unknown...thus the reason why you are getting a successful PXE advertisement. If this is the case...just delete the 1st laptops system account from of the SCCM database/console and try again.
pbalderos Posted October 18, 2012 Report post Posted October 18, 2012 Good morning! I ran a report on duplicate Mac addresses and there were two instances of the computer on the report. I recall the imaging process working twice and also I renamed the pc both times. I appreciate your feed back and will follow your instructions when I get to work. I'll let you know how things turned out. Phil
pbalderos Posted October 18, 2012 Report post Posted October 18, 2012 Rocket Man! You are the man! I deleted both computer objects and boom PXE booted with no hesitation. I can now move forward with resolving my orginal issue. I added your advise to our knowledge base. Thanks again!
Rocket Man Posted October 18, 2012 Report post Posted October 18, 2012 Unfortunately with SCCM 2007 when you deploy new images out to known computers the old account becomes obsolete but still is seen in the console. You could create an obsolete queried collection to scan for obsolete members on your SCCM system and then every now again you could manually delete these or Im sure there may be a script you could source on the web that you could deploy at schedules intervals to the obsolete collection to automate the deletion for you. "It's just not nice seeing 2 of the same objects in the console....1 showing active and the other showing obsolete" It will make it easier on the eye! pbalderos Posted October 18, 2012 Report post Posted October 18, 2012 Makes perfect sense. We do have a collection that we move pc to when they are being reimaged collection is Operating system deployment. I think having two computer with the same name and MAC may have played a role in not being able to re image.
