Kevin79 Posted October 23, 2012 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 I currently have secondary sites installed at all of my remote sites. In order to save some money, I'm thinking about switching to remote distribution points. I have a few questions first though. Can I also set up remote management points? If so, can they be on the same box (preferably Windows 7) Is there a way to have clients at the remote sites install the CCM client from the computer above? (I.E. Not pull the installation files over the WAN) Can I have a Software Update Point at the remote site? Does it need to be Server 2008R2? Kevin79 Posted October 23, 2012 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Thanks. Is there anything special that needs to be done in order to set it up so that clients install the CCM client from their location?
Kingen Posted October 23, 2012 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 Im not sure but I would create a boundary group, and assign the new DP to that. Or maybee create a Distrubution Point Group and assign the DP and a collection with computers that should use it. Im not 100% sure, but someone may correct me. Peter van der Woude Posted October 23, 2012 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 The client will look at its assigned DP for the content of the client package. Also a small add-on at your initial question, with SP1 it will be possible to have another SUP at a remote location (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591552.aspx).
