Application Catalog

Recommended Posts

Have installed the application catalog and can connect to the webportal via software center using login credentials(not sure if this is correct, is it supposed to be SSO??).

Is there a way of publishing packages to this catalog or is it specifically for Applications?

Thanks

ELO ROCKETMAN

Have you added the "Default Application Catalog website point" in the Client Settings > Computer Agent" and also added "Add deafult Application Catalog website to internet Explorer trusted sites zone" in the same Client setting.

Also what i had to do was creating a GPO that added the Application Catalog URL to the Local intranet instead of the "Trusted sites". You can first try add it on a client computer and test it!

I have my in swedish but i hope you get it anyway :P :

I am pretty sure you can publish packages to this catalog in the same way you do applications.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Firstly let me give you a synopsis of the install of the APP CATALOG. When I configured it and firstly tried to browse to the store it errored with not available or temporarly unavailable.......I had thought this was going to happen as dotNET4.0 was previously installed via windows updates before I even implemented SCCM. So I ran the aspnet_regiis.exe -i command and this then allowed me to browse to the APP CATALOG by using credentials(is this the case, is it supposed to be single sign on??)

I also notice that I am unable to define my primary device even though it is set in the Client Agent settings this is the error "This setting cannot be configured because of a network communication error or a configuration problem"(maybe this is also an error caused by having dotNET4.0 installed prior to SCCM implementation?)

Also what i had to do was creating a GPO that added the Application Catalog URL to the Local intranet instead of the "Trusted sites". You can first try add it on a client computer and test it!

I will definitely try this, but I have it defined deafult Application Catalog website to internet Explorer trusted sites zone in the same Client setting!

I am pretty sure you can publish packages to this catalog in the same way you do applications

Are there any steps to achieving this?

I have tried making packaged software packages just available to collections, which does work but not the APP Catalog way... just available in the software center.....I was hoping to get them stored in the APP catalog so that end users could request them?

Is this possible with packages?

Thanks.

I have set this on the client manually and can verify it does achieve SSO :D

Update:

So I have now decided to create an office application following this guide http://blogs.technet...012-beta-2.aspx (it allows you to bypass the msi procedure)

Most of my software is executables so I guess I could follow these steps to create applications out of them. I deployed it to a custom user group and all is working as it should, the user requests the App from the catalog and then I approve or deny.

The only downfall that I see to this is that it downloads the apps to the ccmcache folder first before installing. Is there a way to distribute the app to the content share on DP and then run from DP like the package can? I have looked at all properties and nothing is standing out, maybe I am missing something?

I am going through this same process now and it's taking FOREVER for Office to install during the Install Applications TS.

Nope, only Applications can end up in the Application Catalog, it's one of the features of the New Application Model (packages are the OLD model)

however you can certainly add an application with a custom deployment type (and therefore use that application to load an EXE or VBS or whatever) and that application can display in the Application Catalog..

Hi Anyweb

Is there any way that the applications can be run from the DP shares? I am only assuming that if I take all my packages(which I use at present) and create apps out of them and attach them to a TS, they will download to the ccmcache folder before installing?

Thanks
