labch Posted November 13, 2012 Report post Posted November 13, 2012 Hi guys.. we have a server (08r2) that does all. wsus, eset rac, pdq inventory, print server , etc .. we only have this one box.. I was wondering if i could house SCCM within a VM inside this server to play with package deployment and stuff or if i would need a separate box (no budget). server is pretty robust and fast and its currently managing about 100pc's . please let me know thank you
Rocket Man Posted November 13, 2012 Report post Posted November 13, 2012 Should be no problem considering you have enough resources on you Physical to support SCCM and SQL(RAM/Disk space etc..).......the only benefits that I can see that you'll get from a standard install of SCCM vs your already existing setup is OSD deployment, power management and reports. You as the admin have to do some planning to see if it is actually worth implementing SCCM considering you have 100 pcs to manage and already have centralized AV with your eset, PDQ deploy for software deployment and WSUS for patch management.
