Benrat Posted November 14, 2012 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 What happens if a computer is shutdown under maintenance hour? Will the install begin when the computer turns on again, even though it's not maintenance hour anymore? Or will it have to wait for the next schedule Thanks in advance

0 Benrat Posted November 15, 2012 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Would it then be a good thing to check : ignore maintenance windows and install immediately at deadline? I know that restart is supressed, so the client will only restart under maintenance hours right ? but what happens if the end user, is using the actual program which is being updated ? Will the program force Close ?
0 Peter van der Woude Posted November 15, 2012 Report post Posted November 15, 2012 Would it then be a good thing to check : ignore maintenance windows and install immediately at deadline? Then it will install no matter what the maintenance windows is.. I know that restart is supressed, so the client will only restart under maintenance hours right ? but what happens if the end user, is using the actual program which is being updated ? Will the program force Close ? As long as you do not ignore maintenance windows for restarts, then you'll be fine. When a user is using the program, then it depends on the msi and/ or your own scripting to capture that behavior and act on it. 0 bdazle Posted November 26, 2012 Report post Posted November 26, 2012 When the update is scheduled to run, monitor the 'ServiceWindowManager.log' file using trace32. Also a great 3rd party tool is 'SCCM Client Centre'. If you install this on your device and then connect the device in question, you can view the maintenance window from Advertisements> Schedules
