Leethenewf Posted February 8, 2013 Report post Posted February 8, 2013 So, this configuration Manager Package that automatically gets created will get pushed to computers. Does it just push a x32 bit version of the client, or will it install x32 or x64 based on the OS that is installed??? If not, how do I push out the x64 bit version to x64 OS's??? Iroqouiz Posted February 8, 2013 Report post Posted February 8, 2013 There's just one version of the client package, fits all editions of supported OS's.
Leethenewf Posted February 8, 2013 Report post Posted February 8, 2013 So, there is not a x64 version? Even though in smm2012server\sms_sc2\Client where the package is located, there is a x32 and x64 folder with client applications in them??? Leethenewf Posted February 12, 2013 Report post Posted February 12, 2013 So, is there a x64 client and a x32 client? Is the client getting installed based on OS or does it default to x32? Is there a way to determine what version of the client is installed??? Any answers would be great.
Iroqouiz Posted February 13, 2013 Report post Posted February 13, 2013 Why does this even matter to you? The client gets installed on any edition of Windows, you only need one client installation package and it's created automatically for you. Satisfied? Leethenewf Posted February 13, 2013 Report post Posted February 13, 2013 First off I want to now exactly what is being placed on the computers I am putting out there. Second, we are having some issues which seem to point back to the client, and seeing as we are only using x64 os anymore, I wondered if that could be the issue. Thrid, just because microsoft makes it automatic, does not make it a good option
Rocket Man Posted February 13, 2013 Report post Posted February 13, 2013 we are having some issues which seem to point back to the client What are your issues? and what makes you think it is the client that is causing them? The client will install the correct version of itself depending on the OS flavour it is targeted at(x86-x64). The installation is intelligent enough to do this. Thrid, just because microsoft makes it automatic By this do you mean automatic client push or the version install? If it is client push then no it does not have to be automatically pushed or installed automatically in any way, this setting can be turned off if using client push method which will allow you to target specific machines yourself!!
