SCCM Zero touch, pick task sequence to run

Recommended Posts

In MDT, I can inset a database record tied to a mac for a server i wish to deploy and specify which task sequence i need to run. Fantastic for allowing true automation where i just create the proper record and out pops at 2008 box, or 2008 r2 box etc...... any idea how i can drive a SCCM/MDT integrated deployment of the OS and still tell SCCM which task sequence i want to run? I don't want a user to have to pick at boot time from a list of tasks, I just want to create the record and association to the proper task.

I'm by no means an expert on either SCCM or MDT, but I would imagine you could do just that with the MDT integration since it's really the whole point of Zero Touch installations to actually make it "zero touch" :)

Sorry I can't be of any real help.

you can do what you want by using computer association in Configuration Manager to import the mac address and name of a computer to a collection, that collection will have a task sequence deployed to it with a required (mandatory) purpose

once done, you pxe boot the computer and it will automagically run the required task sequence in Zero Touch with no choice involved.

Would it be possible, with Zero Touch like you described, to automatically name the machine with the name you give it when you import the computer information? Or does that happen automatically? I don't want a bunch of machines with MININT names.

Edit: Nevermind, should read before I ask :)
