SCCM 2012 Hierarchy Design

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are in the early stages of planning a migration from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012. I'd like to get an idea if our proposed design is ideal for our environment.

Physical sites are as follows:

10 offices all offices connected via MPLS roughly 3500 + workstations

Current SCCM features in play standard application distribution, software updates and PXE imaging

Headquarters office:

  • Primary site server with separate SQL server
  • ~500 workstations

Remote office 1:

  • DP
  • ~1000 workstations

Remote office 2:

  • DP
  • ~200 workstations

Remote office 3:

  • DP
  • ~200 workstations

The remaining offices all have less than 150 workstations and currently have distribution points configured. The plan is to implement 1 primary site server and then deploy distribution points with PXE at all other sites. Or would it make more sense to configure 1 primary at HQ and a secondary at remote office 1 and DPs at all other sites?

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Thanks.
