jtalala Posted April 2, 2009 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 Hi All I have a short question I installed everything on my testlab everything works perfect thx for the good help/manuals on this forum I've installed SCCM 2007 in my test lab on server 2008 and everything works perfect I also managed to deploy XP Vista and also server 2008 But my boss told me today that sccm 2007 needs to be installed on server 2003 ( I am not happy with that but ...) Can I still use the same documention provided on this forum for everything installation and deploying of OS (xp vista and Server) I believe that the only change is IIS 6 (for server 2003) and the integrated webdav installation , instead of IIS7 (for server 2008) and the installation of the new webdav (download from the internet) Regards, J

Tobie Posted April 2, 2009 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 You should be able to install SCCM on a w2k3 box, that is no problem at all. And you should also be albe to fallow anywebs instructions almost all the time, some small changes when it comes to pre-req. It seems that you have learned alot that's good, anywebs instructions are really helpful when you are learning system management. You have some manuall job to do... ConfigMgr 2007 Prerequistes: • Install MMC 3.0 if SP2 isnt installed. • Install MS06-030 • Install IE 7.0 (Not required) and other critical updates • Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix o Configuration Manager out of band service point requires Windows Server 2003-based schannel hotfix. The schannel hotfix is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942841/en-us. • Windows Remote Management (WinRM) v1.1 o WinRM v1.1 is required to run the out of band console and must be installed before primary site or Configuration Manager console installations or upgrades. WinRM 1.1 is available for download at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB936059. • MMC updates for Configuration Manager (Software Updates)? If you are planning to run WSUS on the same server I recomend you to install WSUS 3.0 before installing your site, that's what I've done if I should setup SCCM on a w2k3 box. If you get any problem dont hesitate to request help here on windows-noob. /Tobias
jtalala Posted April 2, 2009 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 Thx again One more question We (my company) don't want to use the Wsus functionality now So I don't install this future now but maybe in the future we will use this I don't think I have problems when I don't install this future ( someone told me today that it is necessary to install this WSUS future that otherwise it is not possible to install this future later) Regards, J
Tobie Posted April 2, 2009 Report post Posted April 2, 2009 No worries, you can install that later... /Tobias
jtalala Posted April 14, 2009 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Hi Tobi and anyweb Thx for your help I've got everything working now Only I have one more question maybe you have a sollution for this We use now "Windows server 2003 and IIS 6" at our site system In the past we used SMS on windows server 2003 And there it was necessary to use the "Lockdown feature that is integrated into IIS" to run the URLScan 2.5 to apply UrlScan.ini (provided in the sms2003 toolkit) to reduce the exposure of IIS to potential Internet attacks Is this still necessary in sccm 2007 and if so how to do that Regards, J
anyweb Posted April 14, 2009 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 you should always check the security of IIS and the entire server, I would suggest using MBSA to do this. Here is a FAQ for MBSA and you can download it from here cheers anyweb
