Busy Posted March 27, 2013 Report post Posted March 27, 2013 Hi, I have question about recovery in SCCM 2012 My hierarchy is running SCCM 2012 RTM, we have a CAS site and a Primary Site We want to upgrade to SCCM 2012 SP1, but before that I want to make a recovery plan so in case of failure so we can recover to RTM again We run the configuration maintenance task on our CAS and Primary from Monday till Friday and the afterbackup is implemented The Primary and also the Cas host their own database so sql is also on these servers , so a full backup is made from the whole servers once a month My plan is the following if in case of failure from either the CAS or Primary server I will do testing in a seperate test environment 1. Recover failed server (CAS or Primary) from full backup. (A full backup of the servers is made ,CAS and also Primary once a month) 2. Delete SCCM database on the server (the failed CAS or Primary). 3. Start SCCM 2012 setup on site server and select Recover Site option. 4. The option to recover site server will be greyed out since it is already installed due to server restore. 5. Specify SCCM backup location select the latest SCCM backup from backup folder (and of course the correct backup is selected) 6. After a site database is restored from a backup, the Configuration Manager attempts to restore the changes in site and global data after the last database backup (See http://technet.microsoft.com/library/gg712697.aspx) 7. Complete Recovery wizard. 8. Perform post-recovery tasks and verifications I hope that this is microsoft supported? Perhaps someone has a similar infrastructure? What was your strategy? Any recommendation? Thx J
