Setting OSDComputerName in OSD

Hi

 

I am required to set the ComputerName to the asset value which has been entered into the bios.

 

i am using the MDT Tools, Gather, then task sequence variable OSDComputerName = "%Asset Tracking Number%"

 

this is fine however i have machines that don't have the "%Asset Tracking Number%" value but have a "%Notebook Asset Tag%" value.

 

How can i get the task sequence to populate OSDComputerName with whichever value holds the entry i require?

Create both as separate steps and then add on both a condition to check for the existence of the variable.

Thanks i will give it a try, just so i am clear, would that be a WMI query in the condition

Nope, just a condition for a Task Sequence Variable.
