furena Posted May 30, 2013 Report post Posted May 30, 2013 I searched prior to posting but did not see any content pertaining to Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and SCCM 2012 SP1 for OS Deployment. I am new to SCCM and OSD so there is a bit of confusion or uncertainty regarding when or if to use MDT for exclusively for image capture and SCCM for deployment or whether everything can be done using SCCM 2012 alone. I followed the step-by-step guides to build and capture a Windows 7 X64 image and a Window Server 2012 image successfully and it was relatively painless. However, I have seen posts and discussion on other forums that indicate that MDT is "better" for image capture. I want to make sure that I am not missing a key capability by not using MDT and that it just comes down to preferences.
