Hackert Posted June 21, 2013 Report post Posted June 21, 2013 I just recently realized that the Windows Management Framework 3.0 had disabled all my clients for SCCM 2012. In attempting to update SCCM to SP1, I stupidly installed the new product instead of searching out the upgrade option (don't ask). So now I have a fully functional SCCM 2012 SP1, with no clients/ no groups/ no software updates... just a clean install. I am beginning to accept the fact that I may have to re-create all this work, but was wondering if I will need to go to each of my existing clients who are still looking for my last instance of SCCM. I have only the one primary installation and when I reinstalled I kept all the same naming conventions. Any ideas if I will be able to remotely gather these devices and adapt them to the new instance of SCCM? Or am I going to have to go out and manually uninstall the client software on nearly 500 devices? Any help would be greatly apprecaited. Rocket Man Posted June 23, 2013 Report post Posted June 23, 2013 with no clients/ no groups/ no software updates.. Are your 500 clients not showing up in the new installation.....they should be regardless whether or not they have an non-SP1 client or none at all.......system discovery should pull them in as computer objects so that you can create collections etc...etc just like you would have done with your initial install of CM non SP1. If they are showing up in all systems have you tried a manual install of the new client and overwrite the older version on a single computer, without manually removing the old one first...just to see if they can communicate or not (I'd give this a go but not sure if it's best practices)....if it does communicate fully then simply redeploy the new client installations via the console out to the rest. Hackert Posted June 24, 2013 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 After reinstalling, the clients are quickly reappearing and are showing up Active. A great improvement! Now I simply need to fix the WSUS connection, and re-create all my groups, software update groups, deployment packages, rules... but at least we are turning it around. Thanks for your response Rocket Man, I may be back if I get stuck.
