monsouj Posted July 8, 2013 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 I have WSUS 3.0 installed but have been using SCCM 2012 to download updates/patches/etc. I downloaded (but did not deploy) many updates last week to the hard drive, this week all of the files and folders I created are gone. I checked the wsyncmgr.log and found that SCCM deleted them. I have been searching and reading but cannot find a solution to stop SCCM's auto deleting, I have found others with the same problem but no solutions. I looked through Site Maintenance in Administration --> Overview --> Site Configuration --> Sites but none of the choices seemed to apply. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. anyweb Posted July 8, 2013 Report post Posted July 8, 2013 can you clarify this statement please I downloaded (but did not deploy) many updates last week to the hard drive, this week all of the files and folders I created are gone are you using Configuration Manager to download and deploy updates or WSUS ? monsouj Posted July 9, 2013 Report post Posted July 9, 2013 I used Configuration Manager to create deployment packages and download the updates, but I did not deploy the packages. I did not use WSUS.
Rocket Man Posted July 10, 2013 Report post Posted July 10, 2013 There is a new maintenance task that tidies up expired updates automatically and it is enabled by default maybe if you disable it. When on the topic I thought that this just removed expired updates from your deployment packages but I have noticed that my WSUS folder which I created at the initial setup of SCCM 2012 SP1 is empty also, it just has the UpdateServicesPackages and WSUScontent directories but no sub directories containing any WSUS data/updates etc... If I compare this to any another separate sites sitting on SCCM 2012 Non-SP1 the WSUS folder has approx 28GB of data still in it. So you have to question is this normal behaviour in SCCM 2012 SP1 to have no data in these folders (Which i thought there was data in initially) or is it a problem, everything seems to be working in relation to software update ADRs' etc and monthly pull downs, but why is the WSUS folder empty? Anyone else see this?
Rocket Man Posted November 24, 2013 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 Resurrecting this old thread............ has anyone else noticed that the maintenance task for deleting expired updates has disappeared in SCCM 2012 R2? Maybe it is named something different, but nothing is sticking out, and I vaguely remember in SP1 it was named something like delete expired software updates or clean up old software updates or something similar. Now in R2 there is nothing that is sticking out that covers this maintenance task? Anyone else seen this..... site upgraded from SP1 to CU1 to R2... anyweb Posted November 25, 2013 Report post Posted November 25, 2013 "CM can delete them and will with a maintenance task each week. You can't see or edit this task. " from Brian's post here
