KeithDib Posted July 26, 2013 Report post Posted July 26, 2013 We currently use SCCM 2007 R3 for Application deployment, OSD etc but not MS udates We have an existing WSUS server system that does the updates. My question is, Can I import the updates into SCCM 2007 but not deploy them. I would like to do this to updates machines during the ODS phase Or is there a better method? The company do not want to use SCCM for the updates at this time Thanks
GarthMJ Posted July 26, 2013 Report post Posted July 26, 2013 No you can't do that. You need to use CM07 to manager updates, if you want to use them in a OSD.
Jorgen Nilsson Posted July 28, 2013 Report post Posted July 28, 2013 Hi, You can use ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf from the MDT toolkit to deploy updates from WSUS during OSD, Chris Nackers has a great post of how to do it here: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/cnackers/archive/2011/04/28/using-ztiwindowsupdate-wsf-to-install-updates-in-a-system-center-configuration-manager-task-sequence.aspx Regards,Jörgen

KeithDib Posted July 31, 2013 Report post Posted July 31, 2013 Jorgen Nilsson Do all WSUS servers have a http address? I cant seem to find ours [may seem a simple question, I hope it has a simple answer ]
KeithDib Posted August 9, 2013 Report post Posted August 9, 2013 Hi I am now using this method and it works well, apart from it only does ONE pass of the WSUS server then installs some updates then reboots. Then it scans for pass TWO but installs nothing here even though its only installed 7 updates from pass ONE. Once the machine has finished the OSD process all the other updates install Is this right or should ALL updates install during the process of the "ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf" script Thanks
Jorgen Nilsson Posted August 13, 2013 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 Hi, Are you installing anything after the script runs in the task sequence? You can also add Another pass with the script to see if it finds the last missing updates. Regards,Jörgen
