Advice needed for BITS rates of custom client settings

I need some help because I don't quite understand what is the bitrate I should put in custom client settings when I want to define max transfer rate.. Customer has multiple AD sites in multiple countries. There are about 5 - 8 sites with 1M line and few sites with 2M line, then there are few sites with 5M and rest of the sites are with 10M + lines...

And before anyone says, yes I will put a DP on every, or almost every site. But the slowest connections are 1M so what is the bitrate (kbps) I should put in BITS? Should I limit the connection like 60% of full connection or what?

There is no easy answer to this. On the 1M line, how much room is there? How much will the network team allow you to take? Are you using Windows 7? Have you look at branchcache?

I don't know how many XPs are behind slow lines, but I know there are some... So can't count on win7/branchcache..

But let's say if I can get 50-70% of the 1M line, how much is it in kbps?

I have no idea how many kbps it is , I’m sure that you search Bing for the answer but… If you can get 50-70% of the network during business hours it means that that line is almost not used at all. Are you sure that you can get that much of the line during business hours? I would think that you would be lucky to get 10% during business hours.
